Contact Card Data Imports - BEWARE OF BUG

If you are doing any imports to the contact card, there is a bug that is unchecking the deceased checkbox even when you do not include the field in the import. When I was importing Grandparent info from RE, because it was a large number of records, I split it into batches to make it more manageable for me. The imports that I included the deceased indicator and deceased date in, imported correctly. However, if I imported additional information after that, even though the deceased indicator field was NOT included in the import, the field was still impacted resulting in the deceased checkbox being unchecked but leaving the deceased date. This also happened for records I already had in Core but just needed to update. If I already had them marked as deceased, the import, that again, did NOT include the deceased indicator field, unchecked the deceased box and left the deceased date. I confirmed this behavior by looking at the profile change log and the dates of my imports. I reported to Support and (finally) got them to see it shouldn't work this way. I just happened to realize it, several days after completing the imports, on a record I knew should be marked as deceased but was not showing that way.The case is marked critical but I wanted to let everyone know about it since it is not obvious when it happens.

  • Thanks for posting for awareness! And for submitting to support who I'm sure has already passed this up to the import group but I'll share your post with them as well in case they haven't seen it yet.
  • I've been told this was fixed last year - sorry it popped up in my feed and I didn't see that the date was that long ago, just that it hadn't been answered. In any event, should have been resolved last year. Cheers!
