If you mark a recurring gift completed does it automatically stop the credit card from processing?

    Hello Cathlee,


    I believe you need to terminate the charges in which the credit card merchant processor is located. In other words, if you used Raiser's Edge (RE) directly to charge the credit cards, marking the Gift Status "COMPLETED" should do the trick.


    By comparison, since we use Luminate Online (LO) to charge the credit cards, we need to "CANCEL" the RG gifts in LO to stop the monthly charges. Thus, just marking the Gift Status "COMPLETED" in RE does NOT work in this setting.

    Cathleen, I can second what David said, that if you are initiating the recurring gifts out of RE (such as if you pull them into a gift batch and use BBMS), then marking “Completed”, “Held”, or “Terminated” will all cancel the gift processing.
