Ideas for Improving Functionality

Hello. This being my first year using Blackbaud, as a School Registrar I am finding some basic logical functions not available for me. It would be great if I could:
1. Bring up a class section and see a total number of students enrolled. Currently I have to count. 2. Print a roster of this class section - just this one class, from the class.
3. When creating sections, if I was able to Dupe and then edit as opposed to typing in everything again. Many times it is only the teacher name that changes.
Thanks!

  • Hi @Christine Monteleone,

It's Elizabeth, the K-12 Blackbaud Community Manager. I want to help you get the Product Managers eyes on your ideas and the forums are designed for peer to peer conversations. The Ideas Bank is where you can get the attention of our Product Development Staff.

Would you please click on the link titled “Ideas” on the K-12 Community Menu, search to see if there is a similar idea to yours, if so support it with your vote, if not, please submit your idea and then return to edit this post to include the link to your idea, use the power of the Community to ask others to vote for your idea.

Please note, the Ideas Bank is a separate website run by the product managers, so you'll need to create an account. (Scroll until you see the Login/Sign in option on the left.)

Please let me know if you have any further questions.

    In harmony,

    Elizabeth

  • Christine -

Some of that is already in the system.

For a section population, you can use the following report: Academics > Scheduling > Reports (just above the Master Schedule Box) > Course Enrollment > set filters as needed; there is a bunch of information on this report, but it gives you a quick section count.

For a course roster (though it is available in unfriendly formatting in the previous report) use the following: Academics > Reporting > Reports > search for enrollment > Enrollment Reports > Course Enrollments > set filters as needed. It does not produce a roster with student names on individual lines, but the single class is there

For a course roster with students on individual lines you can also use: Academics > Attendance > Class Attendance > Reports > set filters as needed

Or you could use this one: Academics > Group Finder > Go to Groups List > search for the section > open the group > Gradebook > Reports > scroll down to Empty Assignment Grid Report

Also look through the available Course/Section Reports - there might be something there that works for you. Academics > Reporting > Category: Academics - Course / Section Reports.

As for copying sections, when you do a master rollover to prepare for next year, you will be able decide if you want ot rollover your sections and what information to keep for each section if do roll them over.

    Hope that helps.
