"My Students" List?
Does anyone know a simple way for a teacher to pull a list of all their students at a glance? Ideally this would have a communication option, like a mega-roster “send communication to” or at least a list of student and parent emails. I received a request from a teacher who is trying to send info home to the 11th and 12th grade students, and their parents, across all of her classes. Seems like there should be an easier way than opening each roster and hand picking through the profiles.
*My attempt to do this for her from the Academics persona makes me realize that I can't see how to pull a basic list that shows both contact card info and class info for a student. Is that possible? Thanks for any insight.

List access gets a little funky sometimes. You can share specific lists directly with teachers via the user sharing option, but they will still need additional access to get to that list unless you've enabled the list search system post on the faculty resource board.
At our school, we've created “Class Of ####” community groups for each grad class. This allows select teachers who have been added as group owners to communicate with grade levels in bulk.
You could also give your teacher the Pushpage Editor role and create a specific distribution group for her to use. All of these options will, however, require at least a little front-end work on your part to set up the lists/dist groups and give her access.
Another note: On the roster page for each class, she should be able to select “Send Communication To” and bulk-copy email addresses for parents and students in her class. She may be able to manually combine the rosters from her classes - IIRC Outlook will de-dupe the contact list for you so she wouldn't have to do much other than copy/paste.
Best of luck!

There is the option for teachers to send messages to all their classes and parents. If a teacher starts typing in the Recipient field, a drop-down list of all their classes will populate, separated out by students, parents, and teachers of the class. They can do this from the roster of one of their classes or use the main Messages page.

Thanks, @Jess Moxley and @Susan Ott for your thoughtful responses. Alas, I don't think either of these gets at what my colleague is looking for, because she wants to be able to cherry-pick the parents of specific students. This is why I thought a list format might be more useful.
I continue to wish there were a list format comparable to what's in EMS, where I can pull a filtered list of candidates and then select SOME of them to receive an official note or to perform an action on. In addition, though, I'm surprised by how hard it is to pull a student list that has both classroom info and parent info without taking a deep dive into advanced lists. Am I missing something?

Hi @Morgan Kunze - +1 on having EMS like official notes for academics!
You will need to use an advanced list to pull roster data with parent & student contact info and then filter out the grades she needs. I'm happy to share the "objects" necessary to pull the data set needed. I have one setup that I use for importing data to other third-party tools.

This seems like something teachers should be able to do! The idea bank would be a good place to voice this need; there may be some existing that cover teachers being able to pull a “custom” list/ build a message.

I have a question about this actually - teachers can type into the recipient field and send inbox messages to multiple groups at once, but I have found that if they add multiple groups and then click “send via email,” only the original group's emails show up. Is there a way to easily copy all emails without giving list access?
