SMART Letters

Way to offer a free resource through RE (Microsoft Word Mail Merges), take it away, and then push an expensive monetized way to merge letters. The change to the workflow has directly negatively affected my organization and we will not be purchasing SMART Letters.

Hi @Rae Fotheringham - Welcome to BB Community! As a fellow user, losing the MS Integration in Database View has been quite the adjustment for all of us. I realize you are venting, but want to make sure you are aware you can set up a conditional merge outside of the database for acknowledgement letters/receipts without having to purchase a third party solution. Check out a few of the posts below for more information:

  • Yep! I know I can do that. It's a significant difference over being able to perform the Mail merge inside of RE.

  • It's a money grab and though I shouldn't expect more from a large corporation like Blackbaud, I'm not content with sitting quietly and not pointing this out.

I feel inclined to point out that SMART Letters isn't a Blackbaud product. It's a third-party tool.

There's no one here that is happy about the situation, but we've all had to adjust and move on.
