New to Hosting site - Error messages persistent

Are any host site users experiencing error messages “Heads Up! You are in a restricted area" - Please contact your site administrator.

We have been experiencing this randomly for a while. Engineers are looking into it at BB, but wondered if anyone has seen this before and if so, how was it resolved.

  • I got this a few times in the past few days, but don't remember ever seeing it before that. In fact, I lost a 46 line invoice because I got that error at almost the end of entering it. Was not happy. There was some issues on status.blackbaud.com. Probably related to what I saw.

  • Interesting info. I did not know this was happening to others, which may be info engineering may need. with your permission, I will let them know? where are you located (what entity)

  • Hello Sannyasin! I am following up to see if you are still seeing this error? I have some follow up questions for you if the answer is yes.

Also, are there any hosted users seeing this error?

I haven't experienced it in the past few days. I'll let you know if it pops up again.

    Aloha Jennifer!

I just had this same error happen to me twice this morning. Both times with an open invoice. Any ideas? A refresh fixes it (of course the invoice I was entering is lost).

  • Can you verify how your users are set up? Do they have unique roles assigned, or are they set up within user “groups” ?

I'm actually not sure. I don't have access to user management. Sorry about that. In the past few minutes I just got 3 more of the same errors (across 2 different databases).

  • Our workaround (which seems to be working) is to place a “generic” role on each user if the role is vacant. If you can verify with your admins. Or maybe open a ticket with BB. I do have the instructions they sent, for your admins. The one thing I did ask is for them to verify cause without a “workaround” but will see if they can determine..

  • Thanks Jennifer! I should probably do both!

  • Ok, let me know what is determined

  • This is happening consistently during the day for us as well.

  • Hi Cheryl - we d have a “workaround” solution. BB had us make sure each user has a “role” assigned. We have group security, and each user is assigned to a group - and we inherited security from the database view. Because the Web View requires a role, also - we created a generic role in web view and assigned it to all of our users. It stopped this error instantly once we completed this task.

Let me know if you need further clarification. Happy to follow up with you.
