How to reverse batch posted to GL in RE?

First question, are you posting to FE? If so, be sure your finance people are aware that you will be unposting or reports could be wrong. Guess that's true for whatever platform you are posting to.

In database view:

It is possible to unpost gifts but do so very carefully. Create a gift query of the gifts that need to be unposted. Possibly filter criteria by batch # if it's a whole batch or by day if it's every gift for the day. For more specific entry, I use “Gift ID” “one of” and enter the gift ID from tab 2 of gift record. Double and triple check the query that it has the correct gifts.

Then you may have to have user rights or even download the plug in but go to “Plug-Ins” in the module menu on RE. There find Unpost Gifts. NOW USE EXTREME CAUTION - DO NOT CLICK ‘BEGIN’ UNTIL YOU HAVE ATTACHED YOUR QUERY. If you do, every gift will be unposted! Use binoculars to search for the query you just created. I double check to be sure I have correct query and that name of query is in the window. Then click begin.

It is recommended that other users be out of RE and that you have a backup of db.

It can be done but use caution especially if you are a new user.
