Gift Membership Cards/Certificates

We use Altru and people can order gift memberships through our website. However, instead of the person filling in a gift certificate or gift card that they can print out, I have to create the gift certificate and print it out to e-mail to them. Can you share how you handle gift membership cards/certificates at your organization? Do you use a 3rd party app that interacts with Altru?

We have our gift certificates set up as donation designations, we sell them online and run a query including the gift giver and recipient information from the notes section. We send physical gift certificates that they redeem on their first visit to start the year of membership.

We also fill in a paper certificate to send to the purchaser, especially for gift memberships. Time intensive to fill these out. It would be nice to use Gift Cards, like pre-paid credit cards.
