Is Omatic Cloud Worth the Cost?

I'm wondering if any organizations out there who used ImportOmatic and/or an Omatic connector in the past have made the upgrade to Omatic Cloud. If you have, can you share how it compares and how you like it? Has it made your data life easier or just different?

    @Alayna Hamilton I think it depends on how much work your organization does with NXT lists and how much you can automate. It can be pretty great and easy to use, but there are some caveats. We can talk offline if you like.

    I would be interested in hearing your thoughts as well. We are considering the move to Omatic Cloud at the end of the month to automate some of our ImportOmatic integration processes.

  • @Dariel Dixon, I would love to connect and hear your thoughts on Omatic Cloud, whether one-on-one or with any other organization that might like to join.

    To give some context, we're currently using Omatic's Engaging Networks Connector to pull in online gifts and ImportOmatic to pull in data from three different file origins/configurations. There's a lot more data we want to pull in from Engaging Networks (e.g., email subscriptions and opens) and we're mostly interested in Omatic Cloud (OC) for that additional data. Omatic says we should put everything on OC to “future proof” our processes, but doing so will be expensive. We're also unsure of how OC's queuing mechanism will impact the workload of bringing in the additional data we want from Engaging Networks.

    We're wanting to hear from organizations that have experience with Omatic's older and newer platforms. We know we could ask Omatic for references, but I thought it might be worth checking in on this forum.

    @Lynn Slussar
    We have been using IOM for almost 10 years now, and we investigate Omatic Cloud about 1-2 years ago. The decision was to not move to Omatic Cloud.

    We specific way that we need our gift to be coded and that requires us to use IOM's custom code ability to “get existing constituent” information to code the gifts (for example, campaign is different depending on the constituency of the constituent, gift attribute is added if constituent is part of some affinity group indicated by their constituent attribute). Omatic Cloud when we investigated 2 years ago, did not have the ability to “read” info on the constituent prior to processing the gift.

  • @Dariel Dixon Hi Dariel- I came across this thread as our org is looking to switch from Omatic in DB view to Omatic Cloud. Much like Alayna, our org is looking for insights into the cloud product and possible use case stories. Could I reach out to you via email to connect about the tool?

  • @Alex Wong You mentioned (back in June 2023) that you didn't move to OC due to needing to read the info on the constituent record. We are having the same issue in regard to very specific rules around addresses and relationship updates. Can I ask what, if any, other platform or service you are using in place of OC?

    @Robyn Swiderski I currently still use (been using for 5 years now) Import-O-Matic from Omatic Software. IOM is a database plugin tool, which allows for custom code to be used, where these custom code can call the VBA COM API to get constituent information and make logical manipulation before processing transactoin.

    I am at BBCON this week and plan to ask if Omatic Cloud has upgraded to allow for reading of information.

    I am also looking into SMARTthing, which appears to do read of data before processing too.
