disable search bar

We are attempting to limit fundraisers' access to anyone who is NOT in their portfolio. We have hidden the option for fundraisers to see unassigned donors. However, they could still search for anyone using the search bar. The question arose whether it is possible to hide or disable the search bar function when fundraisers access their portfolios. Something tells me that this is not possible, but I thought I'd ask the experts. Thank you.

  • @Audrey Katzman Are you trying to limit them seeing anything at all in those records, or just the giving history?

Just to note: Most of these permissions are found inside security in database view.

@Audrey Katzman I have seen this type of question before and am curious why you want fundraiser's not to be able to see or access other records that are not in their portfolio since that does not make sense to me. There really is not a magic button that can do that. Also what happens when a fundraiser's portfolio changes, which that does happen. I guess I do not understand the purpose for such a thing. I am certainly unaware to disable the search bar and why would you even what that to happen, that sounds to be problematic from my point of view.

@Audrey Katzman - There is no way to ‘turn off’ the search feature in either view. Restricted views can be accomplished through security permissions within a specific user group - I commented on another of your posts already on how to accomplish this:

  • I was asked to explore this odd idea out of left field to limit board fundraiser's access to information. I appreciate all of your help. I think the answers are quite clear and I'll stop asking.
