Print check for bank to bank transfer

I need to print a check from Bank B that we can take to Bank A for deposit. I'm having a hard time figuring out how to actually print it since I can't seem to run it through invoices. It doesn't like me posting the debit to Bank A. I thought about posting to “Misc Exp” then when I deposit the check crediting it back to “Misc Exp”. Is that the best option? Other ideas? Thanks!

Make the check out to the name of your organization. Code it to the other bank account. That also takes care of doing an entry for the deposit.

Do you need a physical cheque, or can you do the transfer through the bank?

In this case I need a physical check to take from one bank to another.

  • @Lisa Olscamp That is exactly what I'm trying to do but it doesn't like posting to the other bank account via the invoice process. Any other ideas on how to do this?

Then the only way is like you mentioned to flush through a misc expense account with invoices in AP and AR. ?

If you have One time checks enabled in the bank you're writing the check out of, you can write a check that has no need for any Invoices. On the one time check you'll actually enter the account to Debit, in this case the bank you're writing the check too. From a bank rec perspective, you'll need to add a do not post deposit adjustment in the bank that is getting the check as the check will show on the GL when posted, but not make a corresponding bank adjustment automatically. Forgetting to do that can cause the bank rec to be out of balance and a while goose chase to find the culprit if you forget to do that extra step. So I would do the bank adjustment right after printing the check while it's fresh in your mind.

Thanks for this information. I was reading about One Time Checks but was hesitant to do it since I'm new to FE. But getting the information on what to do after is exactly what I was looking for since Blackbaud doesn't share that part.
