Journal Entry Batch Creator plug-in for Excel

Is anybody successfully using the Journal Entry Batch Creator plug-in for Excel? I'm playing around with it, and it appears that you can only upload entries with a post date of the day you create the batch, and you can only upload journal reference “Excel”. Is it really that limited? If so, what earthly use is that?

I have used it and have no problem having different post date and different reference field

Hm. I don't know what I'm doing wrong then. Have you been able to find any resources on it? Tutorials or documentation? I couldn't find anything.

Make sure you have signed into your Blackbaud environment in Excel, when you click on the Create Journal Entry Batch icon, it will load the excel template to your excel file:

You can see Column C is Post Date, while you see some “formula” in the cell already that is using today's date, you can change that to whatever date you want, same with the Journal reference field (Column H)

  • @Joshua Cohen Use it all the time. If you click in the date field, you can type over the date in the formula and it will change all the date cells to that. I also just type over “excel” with my own journal description and copy and paste to each cell.

  • @Alex Wong Thanks, I figured out what I was doing wrong.

Now, if only it would upload custom fields…
