One Time Member Gift

We are planning on giving our members a free member gift on their first visit during member month! We are looking for ways to easily track/identify if they have been given their gift. First thought was to create a new benefit. First question, if added as a benefit could it be found/seen on Daily Sales? Second, who can we apply a newly created benefit to existing customers? Third, any other suggestions of how to track this?

Great question! You could use a combination of merchandise and a pop up notification.

    1. Create member gift as Merchandise Item that's $0.
    2. Create a notification tied to a query that searches for members who haven't received their free gift (the merchandise item created in step 1).

The end result should be, when a Ticket Seller searches for a member in Daily Sales, if that member didn't collect their free gift, a pop up would appear saying that.

Let me know if this makes sense!

  • @Rosita Bradham This is exciting news! Where can I find the steps/instructions to create the notification and query?

Here's a KB article on how to add a pop notification for a single constituent record -

Here's how to do this on multiple records. You may need to reach out to your DBA if you don't have access to the Notifications from the Administration section of Altru®.

    1. From Administration, click on Notifications.
    2. Click Add.
    3. Give your notification a Name, then type your message that will appear in the pop up like, “Member has not received gift."
    4. Leave the End date blank. Adding a date will expire the pop up on that date.
    5. Check the boxes for Display in notification window and Display in Daily Sales.
    6. Under Record type, select Constituent.
    7. Next, create a ad-hoc constituent query that looks for active members who haven't received their gift. You may have to contact support for assistance. You're going to create a query that looks for active members who “purchased” the membership gift merchandise item you created. Once you have that query, then you are going to created a second query where the criteria should look something like Constituencies\\Constituency is equal to Member and Exists in “Members who received their Member Gift (Ad-hoc Query)” is equal to No.
    8. Click Save and close after adding selections to notification.
    9. Back on the Add Notification window, click Save.
    10. Your newly create notification will appear in the list.

Some additional things to consider…If you do this, keep an eye on your system performance in Daily Sales. If the system takes longer to load up patron information in Daily Sales, contact support to make sure the issue isn't with that pop-up.

    Hope this helps!
