Promotion Codes vs Discount Codes

@Paula Washburn - if you apply a promotion code to a Ticket Type within a Ticketed Event, you must then add the following URL parameter to your event link to view that specific ticket type:

&s_promoCode={{replace with your promo code}}

So if your promo code was “earlybird” you would add the following to the end of your Event Link:
&s_promoCode=earlybird

This ticket type could offer a special price to anyone who has that link. They must also know to select that ticket type in the list in order to avail of the promotion you are offering them.

A discount code is relevant to other modules in Luminate like TeamRaiser & eCommerce where you could offer percentage or fixed discounts. TeamRaiser would be by Participation Type in a peer-to-peer fundraising event registration and eCommerce would be for a Store Checkout. Typically with Discount Codes you require the participant or shopper to input the code in order to receive the discount, but they can also be applied automatically if no “code” is configured on the backend.
