Power BI connector for Raiser's Edge - authentication issue

Hello everyone. I'm very new to Raiser's Edge and getting everything connected/figured out from the “IT side”. I'm trying to give the users access to utilize Power BI by setting up a connector but running into an authentication issue. I am a full admin on the RE side, but I'm wondering if the issue has to do with the fact that when I'm logging into Power BI, I'm using my Microsoft 365 credentials. So it seems as though my M365 account isn't “talking” to my Raiser's Edge account. Attached is a screenshot of the error I'm getting. I did reach out to Blackbaud support. However, they directed me to the developer community. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated!

    I really appreciate your prompt response! So I looked through everything on that post and as far as I can tell, I have everything setup correctly and the app is connected. But unfortunately I'm still getting the same authentication error. I get to the screen where it asks me to authorize, but then when attempt to connect after clicking the ‘Authorize’ button, I'm presented with the same error I initially submitted with this post.

    the login you use need to match up to the login for logging into RE NXT

    can you confirm if you work for the org that you are trying to connect power bi to or you are a contractor/partner that is helping them setup but don't actually work for the org. This question relates to account and login issue.

  • @Alex Wong I do work for the org that I'm setting this up for. And now that you say that, I wonder if it has something to do with setting up SSO between Raiser's Edge and our Microsoft 365 tenant. Your question is now sending me down that path, so I appreciate you asking that! ? I will see what I can figure out as far as SSO is concerned, and then maybe this problem is solved.

  • @Meghan Steinhaus yes I did get it figured out and I felt pretty bad as it ended up being such a simple thing. I failed to read one of the critical steps. Happy discuss this with you via MS Teams or Zoom as that would be the easiest.
