New Constituents in Event Registration
We have been accepting free event registrations using the NXT Forms and overall have been pleased with the matching, but it isn't 100% perfect so we do get “New” records created for constituents already in RE. The summary information showing those new records created makes it really easy to identify those records and, if there is already a constituent in RE, I will just merge the records, specifically the event information. Everything seems to work fine, however, in the Event Record the registration is still flagged as a New Constituent? Any idea why this is?
My guess is that somehow the participant record is flagged as new and that remains on the participant record, even when it is moved to another constituent but was curious if anyone else knows how to get that New Constituent flag removed.

@Dan Snyder - I suspect you're right - I think this is hard-coded. The classification that it's a new constituent is applied when the registration is received, and merging a record doesn't retrigger the classification process.
I recommend adding an Idea to the RE NXT Idea Bank for this, if one doesn't already exist:3 -
@Dan Snyder
I would open a Case on this at it is a flaw. Actually BB seems more responsive to these relative to RE NXT functionality. There was a standard Fundraising insight where the Gift Count (whole #) was in ###.00 format. Per my Case they fixed it!!This sounds more complex, but its worth a shot.

@Damon Rosenthal and @Austen Brown Thanks. I chose to add an idea, vote for it if you feel so inclined.

@Dan Snyder
I understand. I feel like the # of those are overwhelming to all including BB. I hope it gets attention. I will help with my vote!2 -
Capturing event registrations from existing constituents is FAR from 100% perfect. When an existing constituent registers for an event with an email that address that is not the one we have for them as the primary email, the system creates a new record that contains only the name they entered and the event registration. Having to merge the records, or search for who the registrant really is, is time consuming. There needs to be a way for the system to prompt us to match to an existing constituent based on more than the email address they enter. We have to link a gift 3 times to an existing donor before we can approve it - why can't event registrations also give us possible matches?

@Pam Ferraro My understanding from bbcon is that the same review process that exists for online giving will come to events as well so hopefully our duplicates can be reduced!
