Membership Reports not matching

In DV, has anyone used reports for memberships?

I'm confused on the data it is displaying. I want to use the Membership Reports - Month/Year Statistical Analysis to see memberships for March, what we started with and where we ended.

If I run this. I see we started with 527 and ended with 531. Great.

However, if I run Membership List/Directory where I filter on only active memberships. I get 474 Memberships with 567 members.

Why is one report telling me 567 and the other 531?

I then had each report create a membership output query so I could compare the two.

I used the same export for both queries.

My Membership List/Directory query only pulls active memberships. In the excel file I get 474 memberships with 567 members (as expected).

Now the Month/Year statistical Analysis report pulls active, lapsed and dropped, so I had to filter on only active memberships. Now that data says 474 memberships with 567.

So it matches. Great. But why in report form, is it telling me 531 and not 567?
