Organization Relationship Attributes in NXT

Hello! We have migrated to NXT w/in the past 2 weeks. I work heavily with coding organizational contacts with various mailing attributes that tie into RE Mail for invitations/lists. I'm not seeing where that information shows up on the web view. Is this not an available piece of viewable data on the NXT side or am I not looking in the right place? Thank you to any insight! Denise

@Denise Miller Address attributes aren't yet available in NXT.

  • @Crystal Bruce Hi Crystal. Attributes/Custom Fields are the backbone of this platform. When the database view/NXT couldn't perform the way we needed it to, we relied heavily on these custom fields as workarounds or supplements to make our systems and processes perform effectively. You must understand this and how important they are for our processes and procedures. Do you have any idea of when these custom fields/attributes for ALL subject areas will be available in NXT? Thank you for your time.

Crystal is a community moderator, and while I'm sure she will pass along information to developers, there are a couple of more effective ways to advocate for the information you want included and to understand the overall timeline.

The idea bank is allegedly something that Blackbaud pays close attention to when prioritizing functionality. You can search for ideas and vote / comment on existing ones and also add your own idea. Keep in mind that while something may be very important a few organizations, it may not be at the top of the enormous list of improvements that need to be made. Also, I like to warn people that the idea bank has a different set of logon credentials than the Community does. While it blends in well with the community, you will need to log in as soon as you choose to vote on an idea, add a new idea, or comment on an existing one.

The Product Update Briefings (PUBs) are coming up soon and registration has just opened. This is a twice yearly session that outlines the roadmap Blackbaud is following to build out webview. I highly recommend joining the PUB to hear the latest.

  • @Karen Diener Thanks, Karen! I saw that Crystal was a Blackbaud employee so I assumed she would be the best person to send the reply. But thank you for the information and I did just register for the product briefings.

It's just that although I understand that there are countless improvements that need to be made, custom fields aren't improvements. They are basic but vital components of the whole system, a part of the bones if you will. It's a huge part of how it all works. It's my belief that they should have come over with each subject area at the time they were migrated to NXT. Although I am appreciative of all the new improvements and the pace lately (thanks to all at Blackbaud!), custom fields are very different. Without them, some of the functionality is without use to some of these organizations and can cause delays and serious issues in process if left out of the migration.

I probably misspoke when using the term “improvements”. I was thinking more about how Blackbaud built out functionality in webview that is incomplete, and needs to continue iterating on it to make it useful. There is still a lot of basic functionality that needs to move.

I personally have not worked with any organizations making use of Address Attributes but that doesn't mean they aren't important to those that do use them. Hopefully that is coming before too long!

  • @Karen Diener Totally understand. I thank you for your perspective. I'll just be patient and wait! TY again!

  • @Denise Miller While these are not visible in webview, you should still have access to database view where these can be managed as before. Like many of us, you'll probably finding yourself switching between web and database view depending on what you need to do.
