Duplicate Event Registration Records

Hello all!
I hope all is well. What do you do when leadership ask support staff to “register” people to events using the RE NXT event registration link that’s sent from an RE NXT Email Invitation? Leadership asks support staff to “register” the people because they would like for the registrant to receive the email from Blackbaud to say “You are notified that an online registration has been submitted.....":


Both leadership and support staff are informed that duplicate records are being created, constituent records are made with blank addresses (only the email address is added). When this is done, event records management is done by the database administrator, where duplicate records are removed. This process happens multiple times leading up to the event.


What should the database manager do? Thanks in advance!

    Hi Lanetta,

    You might check to see whether you have enabled the Online Data Review, which does help cut down on duplicates a bit. From what I recall, it still creates the duplicate record, but your database manager would have a chance to merge them with an existing record or delete the duplicates using this tool.

    We tried using the Events module a while back, and the amount of extra work to remove all the duplicates meant we haven't used it again.

    Event registration data isn't flowing through the Online Data Review tool currently - this a feature hopefully coming in the next year. In the meantime, there will be manual work for your DBA - recommend them reviewing all registrations as they are received. Whether that be first thing in the morning, as they process registration batches, or the last thing of the day - the recurring work with make sure this is always resolved while breaking up the volume.
