Faculty Records: Certification Tracking

Our school tracks teaching certifications yearly. Currently this is managed in an external spreadsheet. Is there a way to add this information to a faculty user record. I see where we can add an admin publishable field, and right now that has been my only solution. Does anyone manage and keep certification information for teachers inside of Blackbaud, ideally, we would want to house the ID number and expiration date.

  • Do you have a Faculty view of your constituents that are faculty? Was this a customization that someone created? These could easily be tracked as Constituent attributes.

  • @Allison Davis thanks! I need to track this information within Core

  • Hi, @Kate Pearson. I think your Core community post accidentally got posted to the CRM discussion board, so I don't believe that most K-12 users will see it.

We struggle with where to keep teacher certifications too. We did decide to add some Admin Fields to the contact card so that we can track this information on each teacher's contact card. This can be setup in Core > Settings > General Settings > Custom Fields > Admin View Only Fields. You can create date fields, text fields, or even larger paragraph fields to house the information you want. You'll want to decide if you go with a single field that lists the last certification and just gets replaced as needed. If you need to have a historical record of certifications, then you might need multiple fields. Admin fields can get unwieldy over time, so I would plan carefully up front, and sometimes 'less is more' when it comes to these customized fields. They are available to add as a column to User Lists which is helpful for reporting.
