ISV Inquiry: Timeline Needed for Volunteer API in Light of Upcoming Database View Retirement

I’m reaching out on behalf of our team as part of the Blackbaud ISV program. I wanted to follow up on the Volunteer API preview that was shared here: Developer Blog Series: Volunteer API Preview

Our product relies heavily on volunteer-related data, and with the announced retirement of database view access in Raiser’s Edge NXT planned for the first half of 2027, we are trying to assess our integration path and development timelines.

To plan appropriately, could Blackbaud provide any update—high-level or otherwise—on the expected timeline, current status, or roadmap for the Volunteer API? Knowing when this functionality will be ready is critical for ensuring we can continue to support our shared customers without disruption once database view access is phased out.

We’ve noticed several other threads and ideas around this topic and wanted to consolidate them here for context. These posts show ongoing community need and interest in volunteer data access via SKY API:

We appreciate any additional visibility you can provide. Thanks in advance!

  • Here’s what I’ve been able to find so far:

From the November 2025 Product Update Briefings page 4:

    Volunteer APIs

“Starting in 2026, we’ll prioritize an API‑first approach to develop the Volunteer SKY APIs for Raiser’s Edge NXT, empowering partner integrations and tailored workflows.”

Sending my encouragement to the RE NXT dev team as they continue working on this. It’s great to see Volunteer APIs noted as a priority. If there’s any newer information or timeline detail available, we’d love to hear it so we can plan ahead for the 2027 database view retirement.

Hi @Landon Davis The Fall 2025 Product Update briefing (view on demand) had information about the Volunteer Management APIs, noting work was planned to start in 2026 along with a sign up to participate in discovery.

As an ISV, you should connect with the partner team for additional updates.

  • Thanks @Erik Leaver! I just now found that in the video. I'm including the links below so other folks can participate.

  • @Erik Leaver, regarding your note about connecting with the partner team — we’ve actually had difficulty getting in touch, which is part of why I’m asking here.

If you can share the correct contact link, email, or portal for ISV partner communication, that would be extremely helpful. We want to make sure we’re following the right process and not missing any channels. Thanks!
