Mailchimp and Chimpegration - Database Cleanup!

Hi! Does anyone have experience using Chimpegration to sync a very large number of contacts? My organization has a thousands of subscribers in Mailchimp, some of which are donors. I'm trying to clean up our data and sync email addresses from Mailchimp, as they are most likely more accurate than what's recorded in RE. The issue is that most of these profiles don't have a Constituent ID assigned to them in Mailchimp and there isn't a way to do this cleanly if their email addresses don't match with what is recorded in RE. Are there any tips for segmentation to tackle cleanup through Chimpegration or in general to solve this issue of messy and inaccurate data? I feel like there isn't a best option for strategizing efficient cleanup and don't know which set of data to begin with. Thank in advance!

  • Hi Aidan,

Given what you're describing, I think you're likely going to need to add the email addresses to Raiser's Edge in order for Chimpegration to be able to map the Constituent IDs.  I would recommend using Importacular (since the free version will allow you to work with Constituents and all of their contact information while also helping map the data between the two systems using the Criteria Sets).  Once you've used that to update the email addresses, you can use Chimpegration to map the Constituent IDs back into MailChimp.

It's definitely a bit a of a process, but once it's done, you should better be able to manage the data between the two systems.

    Best wishes,
