Upcoming Multi-Factor Authentication Requirements For Altru

Published

As you may have seen in a recent email, Blackbaud will soon require customers to enable multi-factor authentication on their Blackbaud ID username and password for Altru. At Blackbaud, we take the protection of your data very seriously, and understand that the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of your data is vital to your organization. Multi-factor authentication (MFA) requires a user to successfully validate at least two of three factors to authenticate. Blackbaud ID (BBID) will require MFA using your password (what you use today) and a unique time-based one-time code, accessed on a secondary device. We are proactively making this change, by enforcing industry standard security measures, to help safeguard your organization and your data.

In early November 2022, Blackbaud will put into place the MFA requirement for customers with any of the following solutions:

  • Blackbaud Altru®

By this date, the MFA requirement will already be in place for any users with access to the following solutions:

  • Raiser’s Edge®

  • Blackbaud Raiser’s Edge NXT®

  • Financial Edge®

  • Blackbaud Financial Edge NXT®

  • Blackbaud Church Management™

  • Blackbaud Merchant Services™

  • Mobile Pay Terminal®

  • ResearchPoint™

*Users with access to any of these above solutions will not need to take any action when the requirement is added for Blackbaud Altru® as your MFA was established when accessing the above solutions.

You will be notified by email 5 days in advance of your release date; however, we encourage you to act now by enabling MFA on your Blackbaud ID if you have not already done so.

If your organization uses shared Blackbaud ID accounts, we recommend you read this FAQ on Multi-Factor Authentication for shared accounts.

If your organization has set up a Single Sign On connection, we recommend you review your Users and Admins list for any non-SSO users who will be impacted by this requirement.
