GET TO KNOW A NINJA

Each week, we aim to bring you a little closer to one of our Blackbaud Community super users (AKA Ninjas).


This week, we’d like to introduce Elizabeth Johnson, Development Operations Manager at The Putney School – a role she’s been in since 2006.

For those of you unfamiliar with Elizabeth, she’s Blackbaud certified (several times over), a green AND yellow Community Ninja, as well as a charter member of the Vermont/New Hampshire Raiser’s Edge User Group.

What area are you in (geographically) and why do you love it?

I’m located in southeastern Vermont along the Connecticut River. My workday is from 6-2 and I get to watch beautiful sunrises every morning looking out over a view of Mount Monadnock.

What do you enjoy about the Blackbaud Community?

I love helping people and witnessing others helping others. There is such a wealth of knowledge here. I don't use most social media and feel like this is my social media of choice as it is a warm community and I love being a part of it. I've also enjoyed connections with the community managers all the way back to Holly  when I was one of the early adopters with so many that are still active here. It doesn't hurt that I'm a huge Blackbaud fan. I love that the employees are encouraged to be so involved in their communities and to give back. Don't get me started on the great folks at Blackbaud University.

What is something that you never thought you’d enjoy at your current job that gets you up and motivates you now?

When I took this job, I was pretty sure I would never want another job again. After 16 + years I've thought I would have gotten to more of my to-do list by now, but life has a way of interrupting the flow of my expectations. I don't do a lot of gift entry - as it isn't part of my job description and although I have done that in the past at other jobs it wasn't until recently that I discovered that when I do have to do it to cover for a vacancy or a vacation that it is like adding love to the database. A few members of the community have probably heard me say that since this spring.

This month we are proud to elevate and welcome our two new green Community Ninjas: Carlene Johnson and Tami Goertzen. Both are Blackbaud Certified ninjas who have lent their considerable knowledge to the Blackbaud Community. Please help me in congratulating them both!
