What is your favorite sweet snack for Summer?

It may not be officially summertime yet, but my kids are out of school and asking for summertime sweet snacks!   We have had ice cream sandwiches, strawberry shortcake and s'mores makings in our kitchen all within the past week.  So what is your favorite sweet summer snack?

One of my favorites is a drink - blend ice, watermelon pieces, and lemonade together to taste.  I prefer more lemonade vs. watermelon than some of my friends.

Frozen grape juice. When my sister and I were young, we used to freeze grape juice in ice cube trays, pop them out one at a time, wrap them in paper towel, and eat them. Now I have reusable popsical molds that i can do the same thing with.

Maybe it's just where I live, but there's nothing better than being outside in the sunshine and exercising or working, then stopping in the shade to eat an orange. It's so refreshing in the heat!


My other favorite is what I've always called wedding punch. Fruit sherbet with 7-up! Strawberry is good, but lime-and-cherry is the best. (Once I had a lime milkshake with cherry drizzle and..y'all..it was divine.)

My manager brought in a cake for my birthday earlier this week, so I've been starting every day with a slice! there's nothing wrong with dessert in the morning while checking emails and voicemail, right? ? I think we'll finally finish it off tomorrow, but I might be eating cake for breakfast over the weekend, too... which wouldn't be so bad, since the first weekend of every month is my scheduled "do the icky and annoying chores around the house" weekend. It might be nice to procrastinate with a long breakfast in bed of tea-and-cake-and-strawberries. ?

One of my favorite sweet snacks is a dark chocolate protein shake.  I add crushed ice so it's delicious and refreshing on a warn day.

For the summer, nothing beats good ol' fashion ice-cream. For those of you who don't know, Cincinnati is known for some of the best ice-cream in the country, from a company called Graeters. It is a French Pot process that makes the ice cream smooth and rich and the chocolate chunks are as big as your thumb! There's a young guy here in Louisville who just recently went full-time with his shaved ice shack called Big Mike's. I don't get down on sweets much, but every now and then, the fam and I will make a trip down for some goodness. My wife really likes cookies and the house always has the aroma of chocolate chip. Hehe.

GRAETERS ICE CREAM is truly amazing.  They used to sell it at a local grocery chain here in Baltimore, MD for a hot second.  I bought the chocolate chip berry or something and basically there was a nearly a whole entire chocolate bar in the mix - it is truly delicious!!!!


Oh my I do love ice cream - guess that is my summer snack.

Graeter's is truly delish. Black Cherry Chocolate Chip is my fav, although strawberry is a close second. My husband and I even found it at a Kroger in TN!


Another thing I like to make for family gatherings in the summer is rainbow Jell-O. It's 12 layers of flavor. Nice and light for warm days.
