Matching Gifts - Setting it up correctly

I'm a newbie to RENXT and we are fortunate to have received a donation restricted to provide matching funds for gifts restricted to scholarships.  Is it best to process this under its own campaign, posting the large gift and all subsequent gifts to that campaign?  I see lots of articles on receiving a match from an employer, but I'm not able to find a match that's basically self-funded. Or, do I post this within our General Fund (where it rolls up in our accounting office) and establish a restricted Fund?

  • Hello Dana! We usually have a gift a year that matches all contributions received from a specific appeal, like our Founders Day appeal. When the appeal is over, and we receive the "matching" gift from the donor, we add as a normal gift and not as a matching gift. We only use the matching gift procedure for those gifts received from employers.
  • Thank you!  That's what I assumed, but I'm not confident in my assumptions yet!
