ELON UNIVERSITY DIRECTOR OF ADVANCEMENT SERVICES


SUMMARY: The Director of Advancement Services is responsible overseeing all gift records, data management, reporting and analytics functions for the University Advancement division. This includes ensuring the integrity of the database and the general in-house operations, policies, and procedures, list productions, financial and constituency reporting, and Campaign reporting. Additionally, the director is the primary liaison with the Information Technology office regarding the use of Advancement tools.


SKILLS: Experience with the Raiser’s Edge NXT highly desirable, as extensive use is required. Experience working with Microsoft Power BI and Crystal Reports or other similar business intelligence tools. Knowledge of and experience using Microsoft Office software, specifically Word and Excel. Knowledge and experience working with large data sets and segmentation.


EDUCATION: Bachelor’s degree required with 5 years experience in data management and/or the University Advancement field; or the equivalent combination of education and experience.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

1. Provide oversight and supervision to the Assistant Director of Advancement Services – Gift Records, Assistant Director of Advancement Services – Data Management, Assistant Director of Reporting and Analytics, and their respective teams.

2. Oversee the timely and accurate entry of all gifts received into the Raiser’s Edge NXT, ensure the gifts are accurately receipted, and ensure proper reconciliation with the accounting office.

3. Ensure the accuracy of constituent records utilizing all available data sources including constituent supplied information (alumni, parents, friends, corporations and foundations), data append services, faculty/staff updates, etc… Additionally, ensure data is properly imported and updated from other university sources (Admissions, Human Resources, the Registrar).

4. Provide accurate and timely information for data requests from University Advancement staff, other campus offices, and other campus groups as needed. This could be mailing list information, financial reporting, prospect segmentation, etc…

5. Provide accurate reporting on University Advancement operations to both internal and external constituents. This includes, but is not limited to, reporting to the Board of Trustees, the US News and World Report data, the Voluntary Support of Education report, the Naples Group survey, and the annual University Advancement Planning Document.

6. Ensure operations, process, and procedure documentation is always current.

7. Oversee the accurate reporting of metric information for the University Advancement office.

8. Coordinate and deliver Raiser’s Edge NXT training for UA and other university staff members who need to access constituent information.

9. Lead the successful implementation of the annual Elon Day Technology needs along with the related gift processing.

10. Serve as the primary liaison between University Advancement and Information Technology.

11. Serve as a member of the university-wide committees tied to Data Governance and Integrity.

12. Other duties as needed or required.
