First live event with Greater Giving

At this year's annual fundraiser, we'll be using Greater Giving to handle registration and a silent auction for the first time. If you're a Greater Giving user, what advice do you have for the first live event? What did you learn? What would have done differently?

  • Are you using mobile bidding for the silent auction? I highly recommend that because it will automatically shut off at whatever time you have set and then it logs those winners in GG for you. Also, Go Time is wonderful! That's one of the best parts of GG. I've been using GG since I started here 7 years ago. At check-in we use the credit card swipers and get everyone's credit card and then I don't process any payments that night…I do it usually on the Monday after the event. I let everyone know at check-in that we will charge their cards on Monday for any purchases they make that night. That way I can reconcile everything Monday morning to make sure that nothing hasn't been entered or was entered twice.
