Position Summary:

The Development Associate, Corporate Partnerships & Events reports directly to the Chief Development Officer. This highly visible and often public-facing role requires interaction with SAY Board of Directors, grantee and donor communities and brings with it the opportunity to build SAYs brand and share the creative vision and direction for events, fundraising and programmatic communications.

The Development Associate will be responsible for bringing SAYs philanthropic approach, grantees and donor community together. Under the direct supervision of the Chief Development Officer, this role requires you to:

Essential Functions & Job Responsibilities:

The following functions represent 55% of time:

  • Ensure corporate giving and event fundraising targets are set and met. Continuously grow receipts of the corporate giving and events programs.
  • Expand SAYs partnership portfolio by designing and implementing an integrated corporate giving program via development of new business platforms – including but not limited to cause marketing, corporate giving, workplace giving, customer donation/point of sale, third party fundraising events and in-kind.
  • Ensure the successful implementation of a corporate giving program by communicating with corporate partners, servicing corporate partner accounts, coordinating interdepartmental activities and managing on-site events related to sponsorship deliverables.
  • Develop yearly solicitation plan for a portfolio of up to 75 key corporate and community partner accounts. Schedule and solicit portfolio through written proposals, personal contact and other correspondence, requiring independent decision making, analysis and strategic planning to attain fund raising goals.

Following function(s) represent 45% of time:

  • In partnership with staff and volunteers, execute strategic plans for annual fundraising events. Strategic plans to be developed in partnership with the Chief Development Officer.

Following function(s) represent 5% of time:

  • Other duties to meet the needs of our youth as requested.

Physical, Environmental and Mental Requirements:

  • Physical: Frequently required to perform moderately difficult manipulative tasks such as typing, writing, filing, etc. Must be able sit for extended periods, ascend/descend stairs.
  • Sensory: Frequently required to read documents, written reports, and plans. Must be able to distinguish normal sounds with some background noise, as in answering the phone, interacting with residents and staff, etc. Must be able to speak clearly and understand/be understood using the English language.
  • Cognitive: Frequently required to concentrate on moderate detail with frequent interruption. Must be able to attend to a task/function for 20-45 minutes at a time. Frequently required to understand and relate to specific ideas, several at a time.
  • Environmental Conditions: Frequent exposure to varied office and mixed (residential/office) environments. Occasional exposure to outdoors.
  • Equipment: Frequently required to use a computer, phone, and copy machine.

Special Requirements:

  • Must be able to meet and receive a criminal records clearance and other licensing regulations.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • Three+ plus years relevant professional experience with knowledge of effective fundraising strategies and techniques for growing nonprofit; specific knowledge of the principles of and techniques of corporate giving interests, trends and moves management.
  • Experience with special events, cause marketing and event fundraising platforms
  • Perseverance, high energy, patience, imagination and sense of humor a must
  • Strong attention to detail; highly organized
  • Initiative, enthusiasm and willingness to pitch in at all times
  • Strong team play who also works well independently
  • Commitment to SAYs mission and values and ability to operate with the highest degree of integrity in representing the organization
  • Ability to handle sensitive information in a confidential manner
