Development Operations Manager
MGH Institute of Health Professions is searching for a Development Operations Manager.
ABOUT MGH INSTITUTE:
MGH Institute of Health Professions is a graduate school in Boston that provides entry-level and post-professional programs in Nursing, Communication Sciences and Disorders, Genetic Counseling, Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy, and Physician Assistant Studies. The PhD in Rehabilitation Sciences and a PhD and Master of Science in Health Professions Education have been added in recent years to meet rising demand for highly educated health care professionals, educators, and researchers. Integrating classroom learning with research and clinical experience, the Institute grants doctoral degrees, master's degrees, awards certificates of advanced study, and offers continuing education to practicing professionals.

POSITION SUMMARY:
The Development Operations Manager is responsible for a number of operations critical to the success of the IHP’s fundraising program including, but not limited to, data management, prospect research, budget management, endowed fund management, performance management, and management of event logistics (development-related events), and the central point person on the new Blackbaud CRM, known internally at “Atlas”. In addition, the DOM will also assist with communication outreach to constituencies (i.e. corporations, foundations) and will work with the CDO on major initiatives to further the IHP development program. The DOM will provide high-level customer service in interacting with all prospects and donors. This position reports to the Chief Development Officer and works collaboratively with the other development staff.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Indicate key areas of responsibility, major job duties, special projects and key objectives for this position.
- Serve as the Atlas expert within the development office to ensure that all staff utilize Atlas fully. Assist Development staff in their knowledge and use of Atlas. Represent the Development Office on all Mass General Brigham Development Office committees and councils pertinent to this critical responsibility.
- Oversee and manage information and records in Atlas database for the Development Office, including oversight of gift processing and record keeping, gift acceptance procedures and policies, gift receipting and acknowledgement; pledge and data entry; matching gift program, and alumni/donor/prospect biographical information database. Lead or participate in projects associated with designing, implementing, testing, and maintaining of complex systems using the Atlas software.
- Continue to oversee and represent the IHP in the CRM conversion (completed 5/21) and work with the IHP Office and MGB to all tasks pertaining to the conversion, including but not limited to, implementation, customization, process walk-throughs, data conversions, and end-user training for the new CRM.
- Develop and prepare gift status and fundraising reports and provide statistical analysis and evaluation of fundraising activities for departmental, Institute-wide and external (PHS) distribution. Includes, for example, producing the Donor Roll in collaboration with the Office of Communications & Marketing.
- Manage prospect/donor portfolios and assignments, coordinating monthly meetings and ensuring accurate tracking. Provide prospect research and screenings for CDO, President and others in the Development Department.
- Oversee all endowed funds with each school and program, working with Finance Office and other departments and schools as necessary to ensure all endowed funds are used and stewarded in accordance to donor’s intent.
- Oversee implementation of the office’s planned giving program, providing support to the CDO.
- Ensure that the Development Office is compliant with IRS regulations as they pertain to gift acceptance, processing, and acknowledgement.
- Track the Development Office Budget and ensure proper payment of vendors as handled by the Development Coordinator.
- Manage the workflow around fundraising events including, but not limited to, vendor management (invitations and program collateral, florist, photographer, etc.), coordination of sponsorships, management of site logistics including catering, data management and coordination of event follow-up
- Assist with crafting corporate and foundation proposals and other communication outreach initiatives.
- Perform other duties as requested by the Chief Development Officer
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree, and preferably a graduate degree, in nonprofit management or related discipline, or a combination of education and equivalent experience
- Three to five years of relevant professional experience, preferably in development within higher education and/or academic medical center
- Expert in Raiser’s Edge CRM
- Familiarity with and commitment to best practices in fundraising programs
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
- Excellent writing and communication skills
- Expertise in budget and project management
- Experience in customer service, multi-tasking and grace under pressure
- Excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to listen and interact effectively with donors and Board members
- Strong verbal and written skills
- Ability to work well both independently and collaboratively, managing multiple projects and priorities
- Ability to work in complex organizations
