Financial Analyst Officer @ Jewish Federation/Foundation of Greater Toledo

Seeking an engaging, dynamic, and motivated professional to join our team as a Financial Analyst Officer to be part of its Finance Department. The Financial Analyst Officer (“FAO”) is a full-time, exempt employee of JFGT. The FAO, in coordination with the Jewish Federation/Foundation of Greater Toledo Chief Financial Officer, will manage the accounting team. The FAO will review, prepare and analyze financial data and organize data into accessible reports and perform various types of analysis using key metrics for a non-profit organization. The FAO will also assist in monitoring the Foundation’s investments and cash balances for the entire organization.

The FAO reports directly to the JFGT Chief Financial Officer for all purposes related to planning, coordination and execution of the responsibilities detailed below.

Salary commensurate with experience ($65,000-75,000) plus benefits including healthcare, retirement, paid time off, professional development expenses, YMCA family membership.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or similar business degree required.
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in non-profit or public accounting with knowledge of non-profit accounting.
  • CPA preferred but not required.
  • Knowledge of electronic recordkeeping systems and the use of technology, specifically but not required in QuickBooks, Financial Edge and Foundant. Must be proficient in Microsoft office products particularly in Excel.
  • Effective at forging strong interpersonal alliances at all levels both within and outside the organization.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Required to have organizational and analytical skills as it relates to the duties and responsibilities listed below.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Maintain all financial records of the JFGT using proprietary software.
  • Preparing monthly reconciliations relating the following:
    • Bank Statements
    • Investment Statements
    • Payroll
    • Retirement
    • Campaign and other funds as needed
  • Prepare and review monthly aged receivable reports, and submit any cash collections items to the CFO.
  • Weekly review cash balances and submit report to CFO and Executive Director.
  • Weekly review the general ledger entries made for accuracy on all proprietary accounting software.
  • Prepare and enter payroll and benefit splits.
  • Prepare and enter investment interest and net earnings run monthly spreads and endowment fees.
  • Assist in preparation of monthly donor statements for distribution by the Foundation Associate.
  • Assist in managing the administration of the proprietary software for accounting and CRM systems.
  • Prepare and distribute monthly financial reports for the various areas of JFGT.
  • Assist CFO in preparing and entering annual budgets.
  • Prepare documents and co-ordinate the annual audit with outside accounting firm.
  • Prepare 990 worksheets and co-ordinate annual 990 filings with outside accounting firm.
  • Prepare special analysis and reports as required. This may include preparation of charts, graphs and historical reviews of accounts and funds.
  • Back up the Accounting Associate(s).
  • Prepare and execute monthly exports/imports of data between proprietary accounting software.
  • Assist in establishing new accounts or Foundation Funds as required.
  • Back up for Toledo Jewish Community Cemetery Association (“TJCCA”) in relation to proprietary cemetery software and help maintain the burial records of the TJCCA.
  • Work with other department directors and officers on related projects as needed.
  • Handle certain accounting tasks and prepare monthly financial statements for Congregation B’nai Israel, as well as oversee their annual audit compilation.
  • Other duties as assigned by the CFO or Executive Director.
