Development & Communications Manager - Regular, Full Time

The Development & Communications Manager is responsible for carrying out Bethesda Project’s mission through effective communications strategies. This position requires keen attention to detail and thorough understanding and coordination of internal and external communications, grant writing, public relations and social media strategies and implementation.

Reports to: Director of Development

Primary Responsibilities:

• Develop, promote, and achieve media placements in print and online, focusing on key messages, project updates, and overall organizational mission;

• Create and maintain content for organizational website, social media platforms, and monthly e-newsletter, and additional marketing materials, assist with fundraising campaigns;

• Work collaboratively to develop new and existing strategies that enhance donor communication and stewardship;

• Provide in depth data analysis and reporting; develop and implement web optimization strategies;

• Work collaboratively on fundraising and marketing activities, including planning annual calendar and executing logistics for special events.

• Occasionally provide availability outside of regular business hours, as needed.

Skill/Educational Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree required.

• Experience with graphic design and developing original content.

• Minimum of two years of professional communications experience required.

• Prior special event planning or project management strongly preferred.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including writing, proofreading, and copy editing.

• Computer literacy with proficiency in Microsoft suite, familiarity with Squarespace, MailChimp and Adobe Creative Suite.

• Ability to develop timelines and meet deadlines while handling multiple projects concurrently.

• Excellent organizational skills with precise attention to detail.

• Ability to develop and maintain strong working relationships both internally and externally, including media contacts and vendors.

• Willingness to work extended hours at event time to ensure successful execution of all event elements.

Physical Requirements:

• Ability and willingness to travel to multiple Bethesda Project sites; requires repetitive movement of hands and fingers for typing and/or writing. Ability to communicate and exchange information. Frequent standing, sitting, walking, climbing stairs, occasional stooping, kneeling, or crouching and lifting up to 25lbs. Ability to reach with hands and arms and perform audio and visual assessments, as required.

• Current and valid state-issued driver’s license, preferred.
