Job Description:

The Data and Donor Services Manager performs the critical role of maintaining Raiser’s Edge fundraising data for the combined Berklee College and Boston Conservatory database; is responsible for database cleanup; creates complex queries, exports and reports; and performs data entry. The role includes monitoring the integrity of the information contained in the database and determining how to translate data into usable, actionable information for the formation and execution of fundraising strategies and metrics.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Monitor and maintain the integrity of fundraising data including the importing/exporting and updating of all donor and prospect data
  • Create funds, appeals, packages and campaign records in line with the structure and goals of the department
  • Use Raiser’s Edge imports and Importomatic for regular data imports/updates and provide oversight/auditing of advancement data (monitors daily gifts, new constituents, etc)
  • Develop queries, dashboards and exports based on the needs of the department
  • Work closely with the Gift Processing and Stewardship Coordinator to process/acknowledge gifts (e.g., check, cash, credit cards, stock transfers, and electronic funds transfers); this includes processing address updates, adding and deleting donors, and updating documentation for gift acceptance, processing and acknowledgements
  • Manage renewal solicitation schedule; prepare and mail donor pledge reminders per schedule.
  • Assist with department communications to donors for direct mailings or digital marketing tools for emails, including running database exports, assigning appeals and packages, and performing mail merges
  • Work closely with Annual Fund team to utilize data efficiently (including but not limited to: phonathon platform, giving day platform, online donation portal, event ticketing system)
  • Work with the business office on a regular basis in order to streamline financial reporting and to create best practices across departments

MINIMUM JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree or sufficient relevant experience
  • Minimum of two year’s experience in fundraising
  • Demonstrated ability to manage large quantities of detail-dependent work.
  • High level of initiative and self-direction.

KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED:

  • Proficient knowledge of Raiser’s Edge NXT, Excel and FileMaker.
  • Understanding of key fundraising, database and financial accounting concepts.

  • Resourceful, critical thinker who uses sound judgment and has the ability to problem-solve.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Supervisory of student employees as needed
