The Development Coordinator [DC] is responsible for overseeing the database management, fundraising reports and research functions in support of fundraising and stewardship at Habitat for Humanity of Collier County. Reporting to the Chief Development Officer and Major Gifts Manager, the DC serves as a key role within the Philanthropy team. This role implements the overall direction for systems and processes that support and contribute to the success of the Development team.

Essential Job Functions & Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with the Development team to enhance fundraising and stewardship through data management, gift processes, reports, and research
  • Record and process all gifts and pledges, tributes, acknowledgements, and benefit fulfillment
  • Proactively identify major gift leads and prospects using a variety of tools such as analysis, data mining techniques, and screening information
  • Coordinate and facilitate prospect review for identifying new prospects and tracking overall donor strategies
  • Conduct research and develop profiles for prospects and donors for use by Development Team in a variety of capacities, including cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship
  • Create and maintain development metrics and progress reports to track progress toward key priorities and goals

Skills & Abilities:

  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively to accomplish responsibilities, set priorities, goals and projects.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously with high degree of accuracy.
  • Strong project management skills: organized, detail-oriented, accurate and efficient.
  • Strong communication, writing and collaboration skills
  • Familiarity with best practices for the cultivation of major gifts including developing donor strategies, solicitation approaches and donor stewardship
  • Screen prospective donors to quickly determine which to direct cultivation efforts toward
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills and ability to work collaboratively with all levels of staff, clients, volunteers, donors, and prospective donors
  • Ability to do first level prospect research using IWave and other tools and to coordinate higher level prospect research with other team members
  • Ability to work with confidential data.
  • Innovative and open to exploring and implementing new ideas
  • Expertise in MS Word, Excel, Outlook, and database management software.
  • Cooperative, flexible attitude and good interpersonal skills
  • Perform other duties as needed or directed

Education/Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Position requires a minimum of 3-5 years’ experience in a similar or related function.
  • Demonstrated analytical experience generating, extracting, and manipulating data reports to assist with institution strategic direction.
  • Advanced proficiency using fundraising and/or SQL-based constituent relationship management (CRM) databases; knowledge of Raiser’s Edge preferred.
  • Strong qualitative and quantitative analytical and research skills.
  • Broad knowledge of fundraising practices.
  • Experience in moves management and prospect research strongly desired.
