Posting Journal Entry

Is there a way to post the journal entry without having to go through so many steps? I saved it, then had to get back into Journal Entry, view my entry, click on edit, then click on post. On top of that I have to download the report in order to print. This whole process is a lot easier in database where you click the green exclamation point to post and then it automatically prints the report.

@Paula Krohn, from the main Journal Entry page, you can actually just click the far left selection box on the line item for the JE (to the left of the ellipses), and click ‘Validate and Post’ at the bottom instead of having to open it back up to edit and post. You can even select multiple batches that way to post them at the same time. Hope this helps!

  • Thanks! That's an option I may use in the future. I tried another entry the next day and using Save and Close button gave the option to post. I don't think it did the day I asked the question. I still think the whole process is quicker in DB.

Now I'm trying to figure out

    1. if it's just my computer browser that keeps erasing what I enter or if its NXT. I tab over and start typing and sometimes only the end of what I type appears.
    2. if I can upload a JE or if I still need to use DB
    3. If I can use the recurring entry templates (they show up in my list of journal entries but I can't do anything with them).
    4. Can I setup auto print like with DB or do I have to download the report before printing (this is just clogging up my pc with downloaded files).

@Paula Krohn some ideas for some of your questions:
    2. In FENXT webview, there is a JE batch creator Excel add-in that is a similar idea to importing in the DB view.

    3. There is no recurring batch feature in FENXT webview but you can copy existing batches to get a similar funcationality. To save time when creating similar batches of transactions, you can copy an existing batch into a new batch. You can then save and post the new batch to General ledger. You can copy from both open, approved, and posted batches. This is useful when you want to post a duplicate batch of transactions, or when you need to edit transactions in a posted batch. After creating the new batch, you can add, change, or delete transactions before posting.

To copy a batch, select More actions, Copy batch from the batch action bar.

Your Item 1 might be caused by the journal entry pages updating as you enter data. I've seen it happen on dates a lot. On the debit and credit fields, you have to click in the field or press enter before entering data or NXT might cut off your lead number.
