Post-acceptance is from past cycle

My stewardship admins inform me that they are seeing post-acceptance responses that are clearly old. For example, a senior's talking about their freshman year in the present tense. I though that these cleared out each cycle, but I don't actually see that checkbox on post-acceptance questions that you see on other questions.

Has anyone else noticed this-or are students just copying old responses into the new cycle's post-acceptance questions???

  • @Tamara Tsang I am betting this is a result of Smart Auto fill - which you likely have turned on. I made comments about the same problem in a post back in May 2023 if you want to go look for it. I have it turned on so that students who receive multiple scholarships don't have to reenter all of their answers to PA questions that are not considered "unique" to the opportunity (i.e. the thank you note is unique and would not copy over). I incorrectly assumed that it would only copy to opportunities in the SAME cycle, however, the system pulls up and copies the most recent answer to a question even if it was a few cycles ago - which in our case as our cycles are annual, could, in theory, be a few years ago. It is then up to the student if they decide to update those answers or not. I personally have not seen many short answers where they mention the year they are currently in - though some do mention when they plan to graduate - so that did not concern me as much as the fact that I wanted the donors to see “fresh” information.

  • @Michele GuyorBorthwick Yes, we are using smart autofill for the same reason-many students receive multiple scholarships, and it doesn't make sense for them to repeat their answers to basic questions. I didn't see a suggestion for this enhancement in the SM Ideas, so I just added one. Don't see it yet, but hopefully it will pop up soon so we can add our votes to it!

The “Clear Each Cycle” flag already exists for other questions, so I would think it would be easy to add to post-acceptance questions too.
