Gift Management

Hello everyone,

I'm fairly new to RE. I have a donor who makes a donation by writing a personal check a few times a month but this month they sent in one using a business check. Instead of writing a check from their personal account, they used their business account. I would need to make sure an end of year statement generates for this donation under the business. I don't believe this will happen ever again, but does anyone know if there is a way I can enter the donation under their personal constituent and tie their business to it without creating a new constituent for the business?

@Shaina Gonzales I would create a constituent account for the business and put the gift there (with a soft credit to the individual). This gift is legally from the business and you need to be able to track that and receipt it that way.

@Shaina Gonzales, I agree with Christine that this definitely needs to be recorded under the business account to keep your records accurate for audits.

If the gift came from a business such as Fidelity, Everence, a foundation, or the such - soft credit the donor. If the business is a brick and mortar type of store, the donor could be listed as a relationship contact.
