Director of Data Management
JOB SUMMARY:
The Director of Data Management provides informational services based on the Blackbaud NXT and Raiser’s Edge 7 database, including managing, updating, and analyzing information that pertains to institutional effectiveness, research statistics, prospect identification and evaluation, solicitation activities, moves management and Seminary-wide mailings.
ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIP:
The Director of Data Management reports directly to the Vice-President for Philanthropy & Stewardship.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Oversees the operation of the Blackbaud Raiser’s Edge 7 used for all Seminary offices.
- Designs reports for Seminary offices by interpreting needs considering the nature and format of database information, e.g. segmenting mailings, reports used to file accreditation reports, annual statistical reports, status and final reports for campaigns.
- Ensures that the database is maintained in a manner to properly reflect accurate information on alums, donors, prospects (individual, corporate, foundation, etc.) and churches.
- Performs both reactive and pro-active prospect screening/donor research on individuals, organizations, and foundations using electronic processes, the Internet and library resources.
- Maintains and promotes protocol to ensure confidentiality and integrity of all records in the alum and donor database.
- Analyzes, interprets, updates, and formats biographical, professional, and financial information into concise report formats for various fundraising constituencies.
- Trains and advises Office of Philanthropy & Stewardship staff with respect to Blackbaud operations, data entry and maintenance, and including support of the Gift Recording Function.
- Maintains a Blackbaud Operations manual that is tailored to the specific needs of the Office of Philanthropy & Stewardship and the Seminary in general.
- Ensures that mailing data files are prepared and processed in a timely, efficient, and cost-effective manner to meet the needs of the Office of Philanthropy & Stewardship and the entire Seminary community.
- Analyzes and updates the Blackbaud system to ensure maximum benefit to entire Seminary community from this source.
- Maintains central resource of data collected for trend analysis for compliance for institutional research and effectiveness.
- Collaborate with Finance Department by providing documentation and account balance bi-monthly and annually.
- Performs other responsibilities as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
- BA or BS degree, or its equivalent.
- Analytical and critical thinking skills required.
- Experience with personal computer and peripheral hardware required.
- Experience with Blackbaud Raiser’s Edge 7, ResearchPoint and Microsoft Office 2007 Suite software preferred.
- Experience in research using the Internet and printed material required.
- Excellent interpersonal and communications skills required.
- Must have ability to work independently and be detail oriented and accurate.
- Must have ability to appropriately handle highly sensitive personal and financial information regarding Seminary constituents.
COMPENSATION:
Full-time, exempt position offering a full range of benefits, including 403B pension benefit, and health insurance.
