Mass updates using Excel or other external source

Does anyone have experience with, or know if it's possible, to perform a mass update using something other than a query? Example, query run for a mailing, but not everyone on the list received the letter due to various reasons. We edited the list in Excel and performed the merge in Word directly as eTap is not conducive to the design we wanted. We want to add the information to each constituent journal (account numbers are in the spreadsheet). Is this possible? I've worked with other databases that allow this and didn't anticipate a problem with eTap. Your help/response is much appreciated!

@Marilyn Field You can make the edits in Excel and then use import to apply those changes to eTap.

@Christine Robertson, Thank you! I'll look to see if I can make this work and not duplicate the accounts as I only want to add a mass communications flag.

@Marilyn Field It's been awhile since I was in eTap, but I think as long as you have the Constituent ID number or Import ID (or whatever that is called in eTap), that should be straightforward.
