Take Time for Tribute Forms

Now that I’ve spent a few weeks at home with my children, one of the things I’ve discovered is that we have way too many toys around here. With my older child’s birthday coming up (he’ll be nine!), we’ve talked about how we are fortunate to have so much and how there are others in need. So this year, instead of gifts, we’re asking friends and family to give to a local animal shelter or humane society in his name.

With more people turning to virtual celebrations for all occasions, now is a good time to check the health of your online tribute forms—or to create some if you don’t currently have any.

When creating tribute forms in Blackbaud Luminate Online, you have two starting choices. One choice is whether to allow the donor to send an eCard to the honoree, and the other is whether to allow the donor to request your organization send a letter to the honoree with a personalized note. If your organization has both types of forms on your website, use an HTML Caption field at the top of each form to link one type to the other type. Linking the two types makes it easy for your donors to find the kind of form they’re looking for. While you’re at it, make sure to add the link to your tribute form to your main donation form and confirm the link is on your Support Us or Ways to Give page.
