Do You Make Your Donors Happy?

Recently, we introduced our four-year old to the Despicable Me movie franchise. The movie centers on a now reformed super-villain, Gru, his wife, his three adopted daughters, and an adorable army of yellow-colored underlings appropriately called minions.  Let’s just say my son is a fan!

In addition to the pure joy these movies elicit from my son, the best thing about this franchise is Pharrell’s 2013 song Happy which was featured in Despicable Me 2.  And I’m not alone…Happy peaked at #1 in the United States, United Kingdom, Canada, New Zealand as well as 20 other countries, got nominated for an Academy Award for Best Original Song, and even captured a Grammy for Best Solo Performance at the 57th Annual Grammy Awards. Happy made people, well, happy.

And finding happiness is important; the study of happiness economics exploded in the late 20th century and is still prevalent today. I know I see tips on how to maintain happiness all the time on the internet (thanks Facebook).
Some of my favorite are:
  • Practice gratitude
  • Keep life simple
  • Practice objectivity
  • Forgive yourself
In your current role personal happiness is important, but what about the constituents in your database?  What steps should we be taking to ensure our donors are happy ultimately making them more likely to give?  If you are interested in learning more about ways to improve donor happiness, join your Blackbaud Customer Success Team for our session, Improve Donor Happiness by Optimizing Your Database in Raiser’s Edge NXT.
There are multiple dates available, and if you are unable to attend, sign up anyway.  A recording will be sent to your email after the session.  Hope to see you there!
