Communicate with a Plan and Purpose

What is the goal of your communication and content? Common goals include providing important information and resources, and ensuring your community feels engaged and connected to your school.

Using the password-protected community as a central hub for information is efficient and effective. Your community will know where to go for information and can find the same information in the same place every time. Once logged in, users can explore and browse to find other exclusive and interesting content.

Creating a communication and content strategy is essential to optimizing use of the password-protected community. Your communication and content strategy defines the who, what, when, and where of your communication. That includes answering questions such as:
  • Who will be responsible for planning, posting, and sending content?
  • What content does your audience care about? What do you need to share? What do you want to share?
  • When will content be posted and/or sent? How frequently?
  • Where will your content be posted or how will it be sent?
There are many ways to share and post information in Blackbaud’s education management portfolio—for example, Resource Boards, Calendars, the News menu, Inbox Messages, Pushpages, and Notifications. As part of your communication and content strategy, you should plan how your school will use each of these areas.

To learn more about the purpose of each area, and best practices, register for Blackbaud University’s newest class, K–12 Core Best Practices: Exploring Communication and Content.
