Strengthening Your Foundation: Key Data Hygiene Questions

In January, Blackbaud’s Customer Success team put data first, providing you with actionable insights to kick off the new year with cleaner, more reliable information. The Managing Your Transition to the Unified View in Raiser’s Edge NXT webinar shared practical data hygiene strategies while sparking an engaging discussion. Below are some highlights of the key data hygiene questions addressed during the session. 

1. Can I clean up my data using Query in Blackbaud Raiser’s Edge NXT®? 
Yes, Query is available in web view and can also be used for cleanup. Check out this free Blackbaud University elearning to learn how to quickly surface groups of records needing attention and prevent compounding inconsistencies from slowing down your processes. 

2. Are Global Change, Import, or Export available in web view yet for data hygiene?
Global Change, Import, and Export are not available in web view currently, but Import and Export are both in development now. 
In the meantime, you can continue to perform bulk updates in database view. These Blackbaud University trainings can help you streamline updates and maintain consistent data: 

3. What is the best way to deal with duplicates? 
In web view, duplicates can be managed through Constituents > Duplicate management, or Constituents > Data health. From there, you can preview duplicates, select records, and merge up to 500 pairs at a time. Online Data Review is also available to help you review, link, and merge records submitted through forms to reduce duplicates before they enter your database.
