Can I opt out of the Online Express thank you email?

There's a long thread on this forum about the limitations of Online Express thank you emails.


I've been wondering whether there is a way to opt out of the automatic email, and set up an email in NXT instead that sends when the payment is recorded.

Has anyone tried this?

Would it be possible to turn off the automatic email?

I'd love to hear from anyone who has tried.

    Hi Ruth Whiter‍ - I have no idea how to turn off the Confirmation Email but it is an interesting idea. In the very least, you could leave it purely as a confirmation and set up a workflow to send a more personalized, 'pretty', email through NXT.

    Thank you Austen Brown‍. I've thought that too and that will probably be what we do if there isn't an alternative. But I've been asked to avoid thanking people twice if possible. Still hoping for some improvements to the online express email editor!

    Hi @ Austen Brown - I'm trying to figure out a way to use workflow emails for the online gift thank you's as you had suggested. I was thinking that using the criteria of online gift subtype to trigger the workflow thank you email, but gift subtype is not an available filter - just gift type.

    Would you have any insight on how I could do this?

    Hi @Matt Warren - I would recommend you use another identifying field, such as a pay method and/or a custom field/attribute.
