Blank Emails

We have a mailing list of over 150,000 and we just sent our first large emailer out only to have hundreds of people complain that we sent them a blank email. People have received an email with nothing in it - not even a subject line. Just wondering if anyone has had the same issue and what the cause of it might be? I am thinking that it was the number of email addresses we sent to but have received no response from LO support.

    Hey Kim,

    LO can definitely handle that amount of email addresses.

    Can you send me a test of the email you sent? Or provide the code you used for the email?

    Did your test messages work correctly? Is is a specific email client that users are experiencing this issue on?

    Hi Phil,

    Yes, all tests were sent correctly. I checked re email client and there were various domains that had the issues so I took that off my list of possible reasons. I just returned the message to draft so i could send you the link - see attached.

    Hi Kim,

    This can happen if the list you are sending to was imported without a preferred locale (language) set for each constituent. When we import our lists we add a column titled “Preferred Locale” and then for English (Canada) we add “en_CA” and for French (Canada) we add “fr_CA” for each constituent.

    If the language isn't set on the constituent's profile then the system doesn't know which version (English or French) of email to send and it will result in a blank email.

    Wow. I have never heard of that. Are you both multi-language then?

    Hi Philip,

    It depends which Society we are sending for in our province (Ontario), so some communications go out in both English and French and some just in English. I just always import the preferred locale in every import so I never run into this issue. I also had to learn the hard way that this has to be done.
