Love the community, the camaraderie and the way we can help one another
I greatly appreciate the work of @Elizabeth Perron, @Crystal Bruce and @Ray Bergman to keep us all involved in the community.
I don't have a product related question at this time or know if I will before Dec. 21 and someone already started one thread on favorite tip/trick for batches. And I know many of us as faithful community members will want to participate in the Season of Giving just for fun.
So to meet the Season of Giving task #1 requirement (Give back task #1: ask a question or start a discussion sharing your favorite product tip/trick.) I post this question:
How do others, who receive and read nearly every post, feel about tasks requiring creating a question?
It's just an extremely busy time right now so I admit non how to/help me questions will not get much time from me this month.
Again, I truly am grateful for all that our community managers do and I'm sure it is quite a task to create new and different challenges from year to year. So enjoy all you do for us!
(I've met task #1 now.)?

@JoAnn Strommen Love this question and looking forward to the responses.

@JoAnn Strommen I see what you did there…
It's a fine balance. I would hope that the purpose is to encourage activity, but I think this artificially inflates the community participation. I throw up a post here and there when I am looking for some information, but I generally respond more than create. That said, I think it's fine. Participate is you want, and if you don't have the time, then that's that.
These badges are for fun anyways. I don't try to put too much focus on them, and I hope people don't take them too seriously…

Congrats on meeting task #1! I would also like to encourage those not necessarily wanting to post a product/solution discussion to check out the Just for Fun discussion board and that post can be about anything!

Agree with @Dariel Dixon. At this point, I don't post many questions mostly information and resources to help others as they learn more about BB, products, or avenues to consider. To fulfill the season of giving prompt, I'll probably do something similar to JoAnn and post a ‘fun’ question.

@JoAnn Strommen asking questions is always a reach for me. I am much happier answering then. I was fortunate that I actually had a question as I try to get samples of database manger’s job description from other small shops on the day I read about the challenge. Still looking for a few more

That said asking for help is such a great way to build trust and trust builds community!
Thanks for an additional opportunity to share some love dor our community managers!

@JoAnn Strommen I agree with what others have said. I generally don't post new questions but am happy to answer existing ones. I did create a question for this challenge.

I agree with the comments below, and particularly what Dariel said. Badges are for fun, as are levels / challenges / whatever else is put out there. But those incentives have absolutely nothing to do with why I answer or ask questions. There are a lot of questions that I could answer, but I just do not have the time to respond!!
I am very glad this community exists and that it is very active. So whatever it takes to motivate people to participate is fine - it just doesn't happen to be what motivates me personally.

I too find it tricky to think of new posts! I'm holding something non-Raiser's Edge related in reserve for a few more days in case a genuine question does drift into my brain ?
I am a big fan of responding to other community members' posts though and thumbs-up-ing all over the place ?

@JoAnn Strommen
I find it very hard to ask questions since I have been using RE for 18 yrs. I enjoy reading other community questions and answers because I always learn something I haven't thought of. I don't have any burning questions to ask all the time.1 -
@JoAnn Strommen
I agree that as a seasoned user it is hard to come up with questions to ask. However, I do like badges and such, so I created a post over in the bbcon area to drum up some conversation. Though now that I think about it I'm not sure if that meets the requirements of the challenge. ? Maybe @Crystal Bruce can weigh in!2 -
