Memberships for Board Members, but how to track the spouse as the Board Member

Hi all,

I am seeking advice on how other organizations use Memberships to track their Board Members. We recently transitioned from using Attributes to Memberships for tracking history. However, we have encountered an issue where the Primary donor is not the board member, but their spouse is. Ideally, we would prefer the primary donor to be the Board Member.

Example where we have faced a situation where the primary donor is a staff employee (we always designate employees as primary for Payroll RG), and the spouse is the Board Member. How would you handle these cases? How would you code them without creating a separate record for the Board Member Spouse, or is creating a separate record the answer?

Thank you in advance for your feedback.

  • @Sheryl Gillespie Is the Board Membership level for one or two members? Maybe this is how you limit it. The card could show otherwise, but the membership could only have or allow ONE person (not that the admits would be limited like that - that's up to you)

We also I think use constituent codes (SORRY OLD RAISERS EDGE TERM!) on Board Members….Let me know if this helps
