One time gift entered as recurring gift payment

Just like the title says, I have a give that should have been added as a one-time gift but was actually entered as a recurring gift payment. I'm not seeing an easy way to unlink this gift from the recurring gift without deleting and reentering it. Are there any clever tricks I'm missing?

No, there are not any tricks. It will require re-entry. If it's a payment made through an NXT donation form you may not be able to delete it. Statement from BB staff was that gifts with a transaction ID will not be able to be deleted. ("Due to potential refunding"). You could try adjusting it to $0 if you can't delete it.

@Patrick Kelleher-Calnan, I agree with @JoAnn Strommen. Based on your post's tags, I'm assuming you did this in DB view? Unfortunately, you will need to re-enter it, unless your gift meets the criteria JoAnn mentioned. This has happened to me before, and I remember feeling so frustrated. When you go to commit a batch in DB view, do you have the "automatically apply gifts to open pledges" box checked off? Since my issue happened, I make a point of checking to see if this box is checked off before hitting Commit. If any of my gifts are indeed pledge payments, I manually apply them in batch so that I have complete control.

  • Thank you @JoAnn Strommen and @Sara Niemiec! That is what I expected, but never hurts to check. I imagine something like what Sara suggested is what happened; looking at the batch the gift was originally entered as a cash gift with a check payment method, but the gift record ultimately was a recurring gift payment with credit card info.
