Web View Automatic Gift Batching Error

Hi All,

I was just wondering if anyone else is experiencing any issues with the grid view gift batches in web view?

Our Individual Giving Manager is trying to process our automatic gift batches, adding the appeal and campaign, but it wont let her type anything at all. No drop down box. We also don't seem to get anything come up if we hit the space bar.

I've checked, and she has supervisor rights alongside me, so there shouldn't be any issue there.

It would be great to hear if anyone has experienced this / has any suggestions.

Are any of these gifts split gifts? If she adds a new gift to a new row is she able to select Campaign or Appeal?

If not - then I'd open a case and report a bug.

If it is a split gift, try clicking on the little icon with circles that is in the FUND box that indicates there is a split and see if you can add/edit the campaign or appeal from there?

Cindy - currently one cannot apply a template to batches that are automatically created by RE, or that are imported via Omatic or Importacular.

I'm copying & pasting a post from the Raiser's Edge Facebook Group that I wrote which outlines a solution:

NXT Batch Templates: What’s Not Working Yet, What’s Coming, & What You Can Do Today

Hey everyone — I’ve seen a lot of people running into the same frustration with the new Raiser’s Edge NXT grid‑view batch rollout, especially around the fact that batch templates aren’t available for batches created from online gifts through NXT Web Forms, automated recurring gift payments, automated pledge payment batches, or batches created via Omatic Cloud or other third‑party import tools.A workaround has come up in a few threads and I’ve tested it with some clients, and it does work for now — so I wanted to write it up clearly for anyone who needs it.

Good News: Blackbaud says the fix IS COMING!

Tanya Fitzgerald from Blackbaud shared that the ability to apply templates to these automated and integration‑created batches should be released in early March. So relief is on the horizon — this workaround is just to help bridge the gap.

Workaround to Apply Your Template to an Automatically Created Batch

Here’s what several folks have been doing:

    1. Set up your batch template with the columns/order you want.
    2. Create a new manual batch and select your template — this batch will have your layout.
    3. Open the system‑created batch (web forms, recurring gift automation, pledge automation, Omatic Cloud, etc.).
    4. Select all gifts in that automated batch.
    5. Go to Move → To another batch and move them into the batch you created with your template.

Not perfect — but it does preserve your column layout until Blackbaud rolls out the full feature.

Heads up: Some people can’t bulk‑move gifts

A few users have said they can only move gifts one at a time, because the bulk‑move option isn’t working for them. I’ve already notified Blackbaud about this, and I strongly recommend opening a support case if you’re seeing it too.

And yes — you might get told “talk to Omatic Support,” even though this isn’t really an Omatic issue.

Please report it to Blackbaud anyway. Here’s why:

    • When multiple organizations report the same problem, it gets escalated faster.
    • When Blackbaud finishes researching and fixes it, you’ll automatically get the update through your case.

So even if the reply you get is frustrating… still open the ticket. It really does matter.
Hopefully this helps a bit while we wait for the early‑March update. If anyone has tweaks or an improvement to the workaround, please jump in and share!

  • I've found the batch template, but excuse me if I'm missing something - where is the option to add Consituent Code as a column in the batch template? Or is that option still non-existent in NXT?

Quite time consuming doing a batch in NXT, and then having to go to DBV and go to each record individually to add the constituent code in….

  • I am having the same issue as Lou. I followed all of what Carlene has said above (I am only able to move one at a time - not the end of the world). However, I can not type in the fields. No drop down, no curser. No option what so ever for certain added basic fields. They are completely grayed out.

Can you give a screenshot (blacking out constituent info) showing what you are seeing?

This sounds like a bug and I'd report to support. Though I'm curious to see what you are seeing and what fields are grayed out.

Please also make a separate case that you can only move one gift at a time.

  • I cannot seem to add anything in the new batch grid format. Personally, I hate the grid format in general and think they ruined the best thing that RE NXT had going for it. The way batches were done previously using RE NXT was the best ever and I have been a RE user since back in the DOS days. I think the new grid format is more cumbersome and so similar to the batches in database view. I think they took away something by going to grid entry.,

Does anyone know if we will be given an option to choose which batch entry we wish to use? I really, really liked how it was set up before and was my favorite thing about RE NXT.
