I have been using Grid Batch for a few weeks now and really like the simplicty for setup. My only piece of feedback on this particular process would be to have the numbering match database view and increment to the next available batch number.

Like @Dan Snyder I have been using Grid Batch fo awhile now. My only complaint initially was not being able to apply a template to have all of the fields I needed, but THEY JUST ADDED THAT! Such a time-saver!

  • I've been testing it this week. It works for most things well. We still need to complete tributes in database view.

Grid View Batch is a game changer for those in the "you can pry database view…" crowd. C'mon y'all, dip your toe in the water, the water is fine!!! 😉 Annnnnnnddd…if you're still beholden to a Batch Commit Control Report then find a work-around! Honestly there's plenty of other ways to prove to your finance team you processed a batch. Grid View Batch is awesome! Keep up the great work @Anthony Gallo!

Appreciate it, more to come. We are not sitting on this thinking that we are done, we have more on deck shortly.

I like the look of the screen - not thrilled about having to re-create my templates, but so far, so good.

  • I just started using it this week, but I prefer the old way I like the validation report hopefully they will add that option

  • Works very well and I like the layout! Hopefully ability to use Tribute soon :)

  • Grid view came in handy, especially the ability to create and use a Template for faster gift processing. Only downside for me is that it throws an error whenever I apply a gift to a pledge. Work around for me is to exclude that gift from the batch and enter it manually in Database view .

  • I tried using it last week, and I wasn't too impressed. It seemed kind of clunky to set up, but I wasn't really trying. I decided to really give it a go for this challenge, but I seem to have lost that option in web view. I no longer am able to add gifts via "grid view batch". So it's back to database view for awhile.

  • I created a new grid batch and 'pinned' the constituent name on the right; a trick that I saw in last week's webinar. Still a little faster than the pulsing green dot so sometimes I have to go back and re-enter when I've tabbed off a field too quickly. As with many things, it will get better with time - can't wait for Gift Code to be live!

So far, I'm enjoying the new grid batch. Hooray for being able to apply templates! I'm also pretty fond of being able to make columns stick on the far left. Would it be possible to make the sticky columns part of a batch template? Being able to make changes to multiple rows quickly instead of having click and wait for a form window to appear for each gift is great. Much appreciated. I'm curious about the status error messages. Sometimes, I don't quite understand what they mean and, as a result, I have trouble fixing the problem. Would it be possible to have a glossary of them? I know the specific issues would be unique to the gift processor/org, but what about what the phrases generally mean? Like when appeals and packages don't line up?

  • I've been using this feature for a little while now and I'm pleased that they introduced templates, which I find easy to apply. I wish gift code was available in web view as we use this field a lot. My current work around is to enter the gifts through batch in web view for all my recurring gifts that are processed automatically then open the batch in database view and manually enter the gift code for each gift.

It's exciting to see where Gift Batch is at - at lot better than how it was previously!

  • I really like the adding in the expected number of gifts and total, this will really help when processing events and making sure it had the right number of people and money

  • Grid batch is a definite improvement over the old batch view. It would be nice if there was a way to set default column values in grid view without having to go into the configure columns button. I do like the ability to lock columns on the left of the screen. Looking forward to being able to use templates.

It would be helpful if the gift code column was available. I have to go to database view to add it in after it is approved. Looking forward to being able to add a membership. The functionality of having the auto-generated batch number carry over to web view so it would be sequential no matter where we created the batch.

  • Although I haven't made any batches before (instead I have only processed the ones made through CC payments), I think I am going to like this feature! The biggest complaint I had about the old view was how slow it was switching between each individual gift page. Now, I can essentially complete all of the gifts at once! This is especially nice for gifts that have the same post date or are recurring and are all going to have the same coding!

  • This seems simple enough! I haven't entered gifts in a few years, but it does seem a lot cleaner then I remember.

  • I hated this at first, but it's really growing on me. I wish we had a validation report, though. It helps me keep my back up paper work organized.

  • This initial first step is simple and takes away some of the complexity of the database view batch set up.

  • I created my first grid batch to web view a few weeks ago as a pilot project. Still getting used to it. Once some of the improvements mentioned in the Town Hall this morning (gift code for is a big one), I will probably use it more. So far, database view is still my go to option.

  • Sadly, this is still a work in progress for us, though we'd love to transition to NXT entirely for batch entry. We use a custom field when inputting gifts, but I don't love the way that the batch in NXT groups a custom field entry into one field that I have to click to open. I really need to be able to see which custom field/date is applied to each gift in order to use batch effectively in NXT. We also need the ability to enter a constituent code rather than just to have the gift applied to the primary constituent code, and not being able to enter pledge payments means this feature still isn't ready for full time use at our org.

Have been testing for a while. Like the improvements that keep coming. Waiting for some things on the planned schedule to make it more usable for our org.

When complete it will be nice. Am really hoping they are able to speed up the search/data loading into batch. Still seems so much faster in db view to have a fund and other fields entered.

LOL - I'm always baffled by comments about how great it is to have ABC as a function in webview. Do users not realize that most of the functions existed in db view?

  • Tried using grid batch and it is okay. Until all needed functionality is available (paying pledges, matching gifts, tribute gifts) it isn't necessarily a great option for our organization. I did challenge my team to use grid batch entry for our Spring appeal that went out last week, so we will see. Once all components are available it will be great. We did find a work around for the Batch Control Report, but I am glad that option is coming soon as it is a better option for our Finance team.

  • The setup was very similar to database view which I liked. I had been waiting for the apply template feature, very happy to have that now. I would love a batch commit report, but can generate that a different way, it just doesn't look as good as the one we get from database view.
